Pochacco's Story

Story

In the early years of Pochacco's life, he was referred to as "The Yorimichi Dog". Pochacco loves basketball and soccer, but around the mid-90's he took up skateboarding. Although Pochacco walks upright, he still has a hard time and trips often, usually resulting in head injuries and is sometimes seen with an accumulation of bandages. This problem was apparently solved in a recent incarnation of Pochacco, as he is seen with a Motorscooter. Pochacco was born on February 29th, 1989 (a Leap Day which does not exist, the closest being in 1988 or 1992), on Uguisu Yokocho ("Nightingale Lane" in English),and lives in Fuwa Fuwa Town ("'Airy' Town", in English). However, Sanrio often changes character history in order to appeal to local audiences, so he is sometimes said to be born in Brazil and/or living in New York City.

          

Friends

• Choppi - A small brown mouse and Pochacco's best friend. His favorite hobby is eating cream puffs overflowing with delicious custard. Surprisingly, this doesn't effect his ability to jump way up in the air whenever he feels the urge. This cute little mouse is cheerful, easygoing, and always lots of fun! Always a little flustered, Choppi tends to depend on Pochacco to help him out. His weight is like his size, little, but there's a big place in Pochacco's heart for him! He lives in a house shaped like an apple. He met Pochacco when the pup fell down while skateboarding.
• Guri - A grey rabbit with a mischievous side, but still wins the hears of all his friends. He loves cooking carrot dishes and can dig carrots up faster than anyone. Very tricky, but who can hate a face like that? He's seldom seen, a mysterious rabbit. He met Pochacco after unintentionally stealing carrots out of Pochacco's garden. He lives in a house shaped like a carrot.
• Mime - A little yellow tortoise who is an expert bird caller. He is good friends with Pi-ru-ru, who often uses Mime's back as a perch.
• Mogumogu - A brown, squint-eyed mole. If he's down in the dirt, he's happy! He always looks sleepy, but the truth is, the sunshine is too bright for his eyes. He lives in a house shaped like a flower pot.
• Pi-ru-ru - A small, orange bird, loves to joke around and tends to change his mind a lot. He's there in an instant, then gone again. Also known as "Chatty" in American dubs.
• Swim - A green platypus who is always smiling. He's very good at making everyone feel happy and he loves to store as much food as possible inside his rather large bill! Swim also enjoys swimming on sunny days and talking with his many friends.
• Poppuru - A white duck and Pochacco's swimming instructor, tends to waddle rather than walk. He lives in a house shaped like a six-sided die.
• The Pi-chans - Pi-yo, Pi-ko, and Pi-pu are 3 small yellow girl chicks. A constantly peep peep peeping trio! They were laid in a nest in the hollow of a tree, and have the same birthday as Pochacco.
• Rachel - A black and white girl skunk and one of Pochacco's newest friends. She hopes one day to be a gymnast.
• Ticky - A silly brown monkey, always running around and likes to climb up high. One can say "hi" to him, if one can catch him.
• Dotchi - A small green frog, tends to get carried away. A lot of fun, but a bit scatter-brained.
• Mon-Mon - A brown flying squirrel. They met on the way to Konya-Konya Mountain ("'Night Night' Mountain" in English), and ended up playing together all day, so Pochacco still hasn't been to Konya-Konya Mountain.
• Samyu - A small gray striped kitten, found sleeping in a tree. Everyone is still trying to help find Samyu's mother.
• Ponchi - A navy blue penguin in a sailor's outfit, met up with Pochacco when the curious little pup was off for a vacation in the South Seas.
• Tap - "A rainbow colored Dodo. Can hardly get off the ground, but keeps on practicing anyway.

Bad Badtz-Maru (1993)

Bad Badtz-Maru (バッドばつ丸 Baddo batsu maru) is a male penguin with spiky hair. His birthday is April 1 (April Fool's Day). He is one of the few Sanrio characters that is marketed to both males and females. In Japanese, "badtz" (batsu) is a term for "X", the cross signifying a wrong answer. "Maru" means circle or "O", and signifies a correct answer. Thus, his name figuratively means "wrong-correct," and is frequently represented by "XO". Badtz-Maru has many different facial expressions and poses, but a common expression is of pulling one eye down and sticking out his tongue, a gesture equivalent to blowing a raspberry.

Cinnamoroll (2002)

Cinnamoroll (シナモロール Shinamorōru^?), born on March 6, 2002 on a cloud far up in the sky, is a white and chubby puppy with long ears that enable him to fly. He has blue eyes, pink cheeks and a plump and curly tail that resembles a cinnamon roll. When he was first created by Sanrio in 2002, he was called Baby Cinnamon, but a year later he was "renamed" Cinnamoroll, to remedy any problems with the registration of the mark overseas. However he is now called in both ways, but also more simply Cinnamon. As of 2007, Cinnamoroll's original name "Baby Cinnamon" is no longer being used by Sanrio and is officially called "Cinnamoroll". In Japan, he is still named "Cinnamoroll" but he is mostly called "Cinnamon". His friends are named Milk, Cappuccino, Espresso, Mocha and Chiffon. In 2007, Sanrio gave him two new friends named Coco and Nuts. In the story, the owner of Cafe Cinnamon, a little cafe, looked up and saw a white puppy floating out of the sky like a fluffy cloud. The owner thought, "I wonder if he came because he smelled my cinnamon rolls." The puppy had a curly tail just like a cinnamon roll, so she called him Cinnamoroll. In 2005, a five volume manga series called "Fluffy, Fluffy Cinnamoroll" (ふわふわ♥シナモン Fuwafuwa ♥ shinamon). It was published in Japan from 2005 to 2008 by Shogakukan, serialized in the monthly magazine Pucchigumi. Viz Media started translating the manga in 2011 and was released to English speaking countries in 2012.

Corocorokuririn (1998)

Corocorokuririn (コロコロクリリン Korokorokuririn^?) is a very curious golden hamster who is sometimes a little timid. He enjoys collecting stuff from around the house to make playhouses and is very good at fitting into tiny spaces. Corocorokuririn can chew on just about anything, but his favorite foods are cookies and sunflower seeds. He also adores cherry blossoms. He was created in 1998.

Dear Daniel (1999)

Daniel Starr (ダニエル・スター Danieru sutā^?) (Known as Dear Daniel) is Hello Kitty's childhood friend and also her boyfriend. As babies, they frolicked and played together. Dear Daniel's father is a photographer who was posted to Africa, and the whole family followed him there. After living in several locations around the world, Dear Daniel ended up in New York, and from there he returned to England, where he was reunited with Hello Kitty. Thanks to his stint in New York and his natural sense of rhythm, Dear Daniel is a pretty sweet Ballet dancer. In the future he wants to become a photographer or a celebrity. His birthday is May 3.

Hello Kitty (1975)

Hello Kitty (ハローキティ Harō Kiti^?) is the best-known of Sanrio's fictional characters, created in 1974. Hello Kitty is drawn simply with a trademark red bow. Registered in 1975,^[24] Hello Kitty is now a globally known trademark. A cheerful and happy girl with a heart of gold, Hello Kitty can bake delicious cookies, but she loves Mama’s apple pie even more. Her favourite hobbies include travelling, music, reading, and making new friends. Her best friend is her twin sister Mimmy. Hello Kitty was born on November 1 in the suburbs of London, United Kingdom. Her real name is Kitty White (キティ・ホワイト Kiti howaito).

Kerokerokeroppi (1988)

Keroppi Hasunoue (はすの上 けろっぴ Hasunoue Keroppi^?) (Also known as Kerokerokeroppi) is a frog character with large eyes and a V-shaped mouth. Keroppi loves adventure, and his bubbly personality makes him popular around Donut Pond. He has a brother called Koroppi and a sister called Pikki. Most often he is seen with his little snail friend Den Den, always tagging along a little behind. Keroppi is a fantastic swimmer and singer (but not at the same time.)

Little Twin Stars (1975)

Little Twin Stars are a pair of angel-like characters. The younger brother is called Kiki, and the older sister is called Lala. Kiki has blue hair, while Lala has pink hair (sometimes, Kiki's hair is brown, while Lala's hair is blonde). They were introduced in 1975 and enjoyed popularity in the early 1980s. Their birthday is on December 24.

My Melody (1975)

My Melody is a little girl rabbit who always wears a red or pink hood that also covers her ears. Her birthday is on January 18. Like Hello Kitty, My Melody is rather popular in Asia and can be found on children's toys and merchandise. My Melody was first released in 1975 and the first related merchandise was released at the end of that year. At first she was mostly marketed toward young girls, but like Hello Kitty her popularity has increased within women of all ages, especially in Asia.

Pochacco (1989)

Pochacco is drawn as a white dog with black floppy ears, but no visible mouth. Pochacco's name means pocha pocha (chubby). He was born on February 29, 1989 (a leap year) in Fuwafuwa Town. He is often dressed in athletic attire, as he has a sporty and playful personality. His favorite food is banana-flavoured ice cream.
